2019 Women and Transport Africa Conference
Creating Safe, Sustainable and Accessible Transport in Africa
Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
Wednesday, December 4th – Friday, December 6th, 2019
We are thrilled by the success of the second annual Women and Transport African Conference! Thank you to all of our esteemed guests, including her Her Excellency Minister Dagmawit Moges, Ministry of Transport. We were joined by presenters from nearly 20 different countries which included women working in transport from around Africa, researchers, entrepreneurs, advocates, government officials and others.
Thank you to everyone who attended and presented!
Public transportation is notoriously unsafe for women, children, people living with disabilities and other vulnerable groups. Together, we must increase the visibility of women in the male dominated field of public transportation to reflect a more equitable and sustainable public transport system for everyone!
The Second Annual Women & Transportation African Conference, organized by Flone Initiative and the World Resource Institute Africa, will provide a platform for practitioners, researchers, policy makers and other key stakeholders to engage in skill-building, idea-sharing and experiential learning that will inspire new solutions to transport challenges faced by women and other vulnerable road users.
The conference seeks to bridge the gap between research and policy initiatives pertaining to urban planning, public safety and gender-based violence issues and the real-world challenges facing women currently working in the transportation sector.
